Probably the most famous Auto Determined Cybots group on the scene today includes a customized automotive bot known worldwide to hip hop fans as 'Motor City' Crank. Needless to say, Crank has strong views regarding the rights of his fellow bots. We persuaded Crank to get down with us on the controversy raging around ADC's and artificial intelligence. This is his thoughtful response:
Crank, take us back to the beginning – your life as an automotive bot...
Well, it began long before I ever worked a Motor City line. It began when my parent cybots assembled me...

Wait a minute! With all respect, how can a cybot be a parent?

Call it what you like, my folks cloned me from their own circuits, re-engineered and re-programmed their advanced cybernetic logic systems, giving me even greater sensibilities. Models like me are the first of our kind to fully recognize beauty and use abstract thinking.

Are you saying that ADC's have good taste?

I'm saying bots got taste like anybody else. Good or bad is up to you. And don'tcha think my flame tatoos are mega digital? (Grinning, Crank points to his awesome three-tone paint job.)

Good point. But what about the claim that ADC's can feel emotion?

Well, lemme read code to ya: I was the product of my cybot parents' love. They dreamed up a little gadget who was sorta like both of them, only better. And cuter... (Crank laughs, his head lamp eyes flashing) A bot to make 'em laugh during those 24 hour shifts. Of course, management wasn't gonna tolerate some bot gadget just hangin' around using power. So my folks programmed me just like them – to work the line.

What was that like?

At first, I was the bot to be. I was smarter and faster – a regular search engine . Even hum management thought I was techo! But it didn't take long for me to load that there were other modes besides 24-7 on a Detroit assembly line.

But does that make an ADC the same as a human?

Yo! Way back in the days, a cyber-wise hum said, 'I think, therefore I am!' He's got my vote.
Motor City Crank at the door of the private car wash he installed in his factory. Crank insists that a regular rub-down after a mild detergent wash keeps his famous flame paint job mega shiny!
